Sometimes, an engagement session ends up being a really awesome experience. Not just for the couple, but also for me, as their photographer! That was absolutely the case when I met up with Katy and Mark for their engagement session on March 24 at Suntrust Park. It was such a memorable experience, and I am so excited to share their engagement photos here today!
Making Beautiful Music Together
Katy and Mark met through the Marching Southerners at Jacksonville State University. Mark was one of the trumpet line section leaders, and Katy was on the cymbal line. Over the years, they’d gotten to know each other through different band functions. They started snapchatting a lot and then Mark invited Katy to meet him at Sonic for milkshakes. And the rest, as they say, is history.
A Chilly Philadelphia Proposal
Mark surprised Katy with tickets to see a Philadelphia Eagles home game for her birthday. So on New Year’s Eve, they found themselves in Philadelphia. On the way to the game, they stopped at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is where the famous “Rocky Steps” are. (Rocky is one of their favorite movie series!). They were behind the museum out on a landing over the water, with everything still covered in snow from the previous day’s flurries, with a beautiful clear skyline behind them. They snapped a few pictures and Mark said, “I have one more surprise for you,” got down on one knee, and popped the question! Katy said that it was perfect and nothing was more “them” than that day… even though they spent a good percentage of it freezing in 20-degree weather as they cheered on their beloved Eagles! What an awesome way to start a new year!
Their Suntrust Park Engagement Session
Katy and Mark’s favorite thing to do together is watching movies, but a very close second would be watching sports together– specifically Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Eagles games. Since they got engaged at an Eagles game, they thought it was so perfect that they decided to have their engagement session at Suntrust Park, where the Atlanta Braves play!
Early that morning, we met up with Alexis, a Suntrust Park and Atlanta Braves team employee. She navigated us to all of the locations during the engagement session. It was AMAZING. We got to see so many different places in and around the park. And, what’s even better is that we had the stadium all to ourselves! I loved being able to photograph this happy couple in so many unique places around Suntrust Park! It was such a cool experience. Of course, the best part was seeing how Mark and Katy smile at each other. It was so easy to see how in love they are. It makes my job as a photographer so easy!
Katy and Mark
As long as you two keep smiling, I am sure you’ll keep winning. It was so much fun to capture your Suntrust Park engagement session. Thanks so much for asking me to be your Atlanta engagement photographer!
