Last November, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph Karissa and Joey’s Silver City Farm wedding as their North Georgia Wedding Photographer. These two love birds were so much fun to work with and I had such a blast getting to know both of them!
Sweet Beginnings on the Dance Floor
Karissa met Joey on one fateful Friday night at Cowboys in Dallas, TX. She was newly single and wanted to just have some “me time.” Karissa wanted to go out to Cowboys specifically for the dancing because it was easy to move from one partner to the next and just DANCE. Little did she know… her next dance partner was going to be the one to whisk her away.
Out of nowhere, a tall, blond, handsome fellow with a plaid shirt popped over to her table and asked her to dance. Joey was his name, and they didn’t stop dancing until nearly 3 AM! They literally shut the dance floor down! Joey shared, “Time and space did not matter. We floated on clouds like angels… we even danced without music.”
After ending the night getting their “street meat” fix from their favorite hot dog vendor, Donna, they exchanged numbers and went on their separate ways… for like, a second. Joey called her on the car ride home and the rest is history. (Even though Joey thought her name was Cassandra, at first…. Whoops!)
A Touching Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony was absolutely amazing. Even while Karissa kept looking from the pastor to Joey, his eyes were glued to her until they were ready to say their vows. I don’t think he could take his eyes off her! He even shed a few tears as she was coming out — be still my heart. The whole ceremony was filled with so much love. It is SO awesome to be able to capture these moments as they became husband and wife.
I loved the pledge of intent that they said to each other, in unison:
Don’t ask me to leave you or turn back. Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you will live, I will live. Your people will be my people. And your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die. And there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely, if I allow anything but death to separate us.
A Rustic North Georgia Wedding Reception
So, remember how these two met on the dance floor? Well, rest assured, there were plenty of boots on the dance floor again at the reception! Karissa and Joey took their first dance to the sounds of George Strait’s timeless classic, Cross My Heart. Karissa sang the song to him in his ear as they danced, making it just SUCH a sweet moment.
And can I just pause for a moment to share how AWESOME their wedding deserts were? Karissa and Joey own a gourmet donut shop in Duluth, GA — Simply Done Donuts. Needless to say, when it was time to choose a dessert vendor for the wedding, they had it covered. The fried little delicacies were a real treat towards the end of the night and everyone got their sweet tooth fix!
