You’re engaged! In the next few months you start looking and planning everything, chatting with wedding planners, venues, caterers and your photographer. The details pile on to your to-do list. Now comes planning and scheduling, which is difficult, I totally get it. Lots of my couples feel this way. When I talk to them the question they have is usually, “Why should I have an engagement session? We’ve got a lot on our plate.”
Great question! Let’s jump in.
1. A Great Opportunity for a Trial Run
You want your wedding day to be special! Beautiful! Amazing! So having a trial run with your photographer makes perfect sense. The engagement session is like a first date for you and your photographer. Ever have a date that started awkward? Who hasn’t? The good thing is that it’s a trail run and not your wedding day. During the engagement session, I’m here to help you feel natural, confident and feel like your best self. You’ll leave the engagement session confident in front of the camera. (Sidebar… picking the wrong photographer for your big day can also be like a really bad blind date. Check out this post for how to pick your wedding photographer!)
2. You Two Get a Moment Together
It’s important to take a break from planning and spend some time with your honey. An engagement session gives you two a moment of peace. It’s time to reflect on your love. The time is all about gentle whispers back and forth, holding each other close and butterfly kisses. Oh! Can you imagine it? All I can say is be still, MY HEART.
3. The Photos! Woohoo!
Not only do you two get to have a trial run with your photographer, you also get PHOTOS! They are the perfect thing for Save the Date cards or decorations for the wedding. Use them for your dessert table. Maybe an album to use as your guest book?! These engagement photos are a beautiful way to incorporate your love story into your wedding day.
All of the photos featured in this post are from a mentorship session I did with Natalie of Four Corners Photography. I love all of these photos!
